Four Seasons Bora Bora photo takes Honorable Mention honors in 2018 NATJA awards

Do you have a favorite photo? I’ve taken thousands of photos over the years in exotic locations throughout the world, but this is one of my all-time favorites — taken in December 2017 at Four Seasons Bora Bora, one of the dreamiest locations in the South Pacific.

That made it all the more special to have it recognized by NATJA, the North American Travel Journalists Assn., in its 2018 awards competition in the Featured Photo, Illustration, Online category – Honorable Mention.

My photo was first selected to be featured on Sand in my Suitcase, a luxury travel blog by award-winning writers, Janice and George Mucalov, in their “Snapshot Stories” series in May 2018. An overnight stay in an overwater bungalow with my husband had been on my bucket list since I stayed in one at another Bora Bora resort in 2010 while on a press trip with other writers.

Seven years later, we were on a 10-day Tahiti and Tuamotus cruise with Windstar Cruises, and my dream became reality. The cruise included an overnight in Bora Bora and although we had to miss the special evening event planned for passengers on a private motu, I couldn’t pass up the chance to stay in one of the dreamy huts suspended above the lagoon…and this time with Stephen!
